What To Expect

Pre-Boarding Requirements

  • Register on our Client Database:  DoggieDashBoard
  • Validate: Vaccination Records: Proof of up-to-date vaccinations (Rabies, Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza and Parvovirus, Lepto, Bordetella).
  • Meet n Greet: We recommend a visit and tour of our facility before your first booking 
  • Behaviour Assessment may be requested based on the dog’s breed, age and type of service requested:  
  • Sign our Standard Waiver
  • Sign Our T& C’s – it explains all the rules and requirement

Tips for a Smooth Boarding Experience:

Familiar Items: Bring your dog’s favorite toys, blanket, or bed to make them feel more at home.

Detailed Instructions: Provide detailed feeding and medication instructions.

Trial Run: Consider a short stay or daycare visit before an extended boarding period to help your dog acclimate.

Daily Routine

  • Wake up Service: Early morning walk/run about – a great way to wake up take care of any toilet business and take advantage of the morning fresh air.
  • Breakfast: After the morning walkabout doggies are moved into the day camps and breakfast is served. 
  • Exercise and Playtime:  Regularly scheduled walks, play sessions, enrichment activities and socialization with other dogs (if your dog is social and where safely possible all “playdates” are small, short and supervised).
  • Rest Time: Designated quiet times for rest and naps, During Peak Summer dog are returned to the Kennels to ensure proper protection from the heat of the day, during colder winters we will use our discretion and dogs may remain in the day camp to tan away in the cosy winter sun.
  • Exercise and Playtime:  Regularly scheduled walks, play sessions, enrichment activities and socialization with other dogs (if your dog is social and where safely possible all

  • Last call: Final walk abouts, Dog’s are moved to individual Kennel Suits , prepare dogs for night time, Water check , Bed making and Bedtime Snacks from home.

Amenities and Activities

  • Updates: Regular updates, photos, or videos are sent to you via our WHatapp groups to keep you informed about your dog’s stay.
  • Report Card: Best Friends Dog School provide a summary of your dog’s stay, including their behaviour,  activities, and any health notes.
  • We have Three Kennel Suite Options available: Standard/Motel/Little Village
  • Various Day Camps, Doggy Play Park, Big fenced fields for running playing and walking.
  • We provide a home away from home and your Bestie may partake in day to day activities especially when we have fewer visitors, activities like office time, farming and even the odd braai may be part of your Besties visit while in our Care – Did we mention that this is also our home so we are always about. 
  • We feed Karoo all Breed Adult, /Karoo Large breed puppy (large breed dogs up to age 2) depending on our visitors. We also cater for individual diets as per client requests and provision – please arrange in advance if this is the case. We may op to use food puzzles otherwise. We make use of stainless steel bowls to ensure adequate cleaning and sterilisation after each use.
  • Treats: Treats may be provided extra by Pet Parents. Random Treats &  Chews are provided by Best Friends for our visiting Besties. Ensure we are notified of any allergies or retractions please. 
  • Bedding: Bedding must be supplied from home, Please wash a day or two before visiting so that your home scent is on the bedding we find this helps sooth many of our visiting Besties. We will also wash the bedding if needed during the stay. We have Pallets with Rubber mats on top placed in the Kennel Suites, that is suitable and provide comfort to dog who cannot have bedding with them.  Bedding form home is placed on top of these pallets when provided.
  • 😊 Individual or Group Play: Depending on your dog’s social preferences, Breed, Size, playstyle Sterilisation status,  they may play alone with staff or in small groups with other dogs when deemed safe to do for all dogs concerned. Dog that visit frequently often develop individual friendships. We foster these relationships where possible. Dogs will never be left with other dogs that are not from the same household.
  • Enrichment Activities: Toys, puzzles, and sometimes additional training or agility activities.
  • Health and Safety: Regular Monitoring: Staff checks on dogs frequently throughout the day to ensure they are healthy and happy.
  • Emergency Care: Owner will be contacted immediately on any emergency and when needed we will take and meet Pet Parents at the agreed Vet Office – All Travel Vet and medical fees will be for Pet Parent.  (emergency vets used: Vally Farm/Olympus/Vet Land.)
